Ever since turning professional in 2017, Shakur Stevenson has been thrilling fans with his slick style. The Newark-born fighter has mastered the art of perfectly judging distance, effortlessly avoiding punches and then picking opponents apart with his sharp southpaw jab. With a record of 20-0, he’s won titles at featherweight and super-featherweight and now aims to become a three-weight world champion at the age of 26.

Standing in his way is the tough Dominican, De Los Santos, who has only tasted defeat once in his professional career. That loss came via split decision to William Forster at the start of 2022 but he has since secured three more decisive victories to take his record to 16-1. Impressively, 14 of his victories have come via stoppage. The 24-year-old southpaw possess serious power in both hands.

De Los Santos will almost certainly look to put the pressure on early and try to land a big shot, while Stevenson will hope his superior boxing skills ensure he racks up yet another win. It's set to be a fascinating contest.

At just 26 years of age, Stevenson has already won world titles at featherweight and super-featherweight, and though he’s only fought one bout since moving up yet another weight class, it finished with a typically emphatic sixth-round knockout of Shuichiro Yoshino.

The undefeated champion is quite simply one of the hottest prospects in the sport right now.

By contrast this is by some mark the biggest fight of De Los Santos' career to date. The 24-year-old has scored two victories since losing a split decision to William Foster III, and the hope is that the occasion of his first ever title bout inspires rather than paralyses him.

De Los Santos is more of a slugger than the fleet-footed Stevenson, which sets up a classic clash of styles. The Dominican has knocked out a staggering 14 of his 17 opponents, and he’ll be looking to keep Stevenson moving and catch him out with some big hits, utilizing his slight height and weight advantages.

With a lengthy list of bouts, including Emanuel Navarrete defending his WBO world super featherweight title against Robson Conceicao, also on the card, this is a night that no boxing fan will want to miss.

Stevenson has now entered a star-studded 135lbs division, where Devin Haney holds the belt. Haney, who Stevenson rejected an offer to fight early this year, is moving up in weight himself, taking on Regis Prograis for his super-lightweight title next month.

That has set the stage for Stevenson to fight for the WBC lightweight belt, in a bout taking place on Thursday night before the focus in Las Vegas shifts to Formula One this weekend.

This is only Stevenson's second fight at 135lbs, having stopped Shuichiro Yoshino earlier this year, and he now takes on Dos Santos, who gets his first shot at a world title. The 24-year-old (16-1) has earned his shot with three wins on the bounce since losing on points to William Foster III at the start of last year.
