Final Destination Bloodlines recently made its highly anticipated streaming debut. But the movie is already dominating the charts.
Per Flixpatrol, Final Destination Bloodlines is currently the number one most streamed film on HBO Max worldwide as of Aug. 2. The horror film debuted on the platform on Aug. 1, and has already shot ahead of Until Dawn and Sinners, which are holding onto second and third places respectively. The movie's streaming success comes alongside both critical and commercial success.
The sixth installment in the Final Destination franchise has scored a certified fresh critic score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, with audience scores not falling too far behind at 87%. This would make Final Destination Bloodlines the first film in the franchise to receive a positive rating from both critics and audiences. Released on May 16, Bloodlines was made on a $50 million budget.

The film performed exceedingly well financially, earning $285.3 million at the global box office. Bloodlines also received a physical Blu-ray release on July 22, which came alongside the release of the full film collection consisting of all six films and special features for each of the movies. Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lopvsky, the movie was released about 14 years after the 2011 film, Final Destination 5.
The wait between installments wasn't supposed to be so long, but the project was plagued by delays. The franchise centers around the concept of impending death and follows a small group of people attempting to escape it. Unlike other horror films where the killer is a tangible being, the villain of Final Destination is death itself as an unseen force that claims its victims through a convoluted series of events that lead to bizarre accidents.
What Is Final Destination Bloodlines About?
Final Destination Bloodlines follows Stephani (Kaitlyn Santa Juana), a college student who is haunted by a recurring nightmare in which her grandparents, Iris and Paul, die in a collapsing building. Stephani returns home in search of answers and learns from her grandmother that the nightmare she was having was actually an old premonition.
While cheating death, only to have it reclaim those who should have died, is what the Final Destination franchise is about, Bloodlines adds a new element to this concept by including family members who shouldn't have been born. In addition to Santa Jauna, the latest installment stars Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Rya Kihlstedt, Brec Bassinger, and Tony Todd.
Final Destination Bloodlines is available to stream on MAX.
