Alien: Earth Creator Noah Hawley To Direct Remake Of Argentine Supernatural Horror Flick ‘Terrified’ For Warner Bros.

After tackling the “Alien” franchise with his Earthbound series “Alien: Earth,” Noah Hawley is looking to link up with Warner Bros. for a remake of the Argentine horror film “Terrified” with Warner Bros. backing the project. The main gist of the supernatural story is that the film focuses on a police officer and paranormal researchers/investigators who try to get to the bottom of eerie occurrences that are taking place in a neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

Hawley is set to direct and produce the feature, which is being developed with Demián Rugna, the writer-director behind the original Spanish-language feature, Aterrados.

The project will be a reimagining of the 2017 film, which centers on a police officer and a series of paranormal researchers and investigators who attempt to get to the bottom of supernatural occurrences that are centered in one neighborhood in Buenos Aires.

Hawley will produce under his Austin-based banner, 26 Keys. 26 Keys most recently released Alien: Earth, the critically acclaimed series based on the classic sci-fi franchise, which is set for a second season at Hulu and FX. (The Hollywood Reporter’s review of the series called it a “thrilling epic about personhood, hubris and, of course, the primal pleasure of watching people get absolutely rocked by space monsters.”)

26 Keys is also behind Hawley’s anthology series Fargo, the Emmys juggernaut that has been nominated for 70 Primetime Emmy Awards, including seven wins over its five seasons, as well as the FX series Legion.

Hawley, who is repped by WME, Untitled and McKuin Frankel, made his feature film directorial debut in 2019 with Fox Searchlight’s Lucy in the Sky. He is also the author of six novels, the most recent being 2022’s Anthem.

Rugna, who is also behind 2023 IFC and Shudder horror When Evil Lurks, is represented by WME and Johnson Shapiro.

*****

The first time I saw Terrified it freaked me out as a horror fan. Also check out Demián Rugna's follow-up film When Evil Lurks, which is just as terrifying. Both I believe you can check out on the horror streamer Shudder.
