Ariana Grande Calls 'Eternal Sunshine' Tour Her ‘Last Hurrah’

Ariana Grande confirmed her “Eternal Sunshine” tour will be a one-time event, with no plans for major touring in the future

The “Break Free” singer released her seventh studio album, featuring songs like “Yes, and?,” “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love),” and “The Boy is Mine” last year.

However, besides exclusive performances on late night TV shows, Saturday Night Live and at the 2024 Met Gala, Grande has not performed much of the album live.

In August, a tour was announced for the US, Canada, and the UK between June and September 2026. It will be the first time the singer has toured since 2019.

Appearing on the most recent episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast Grande discussed her career and how she imagine it looking going forward.

She said: “I am feeling a lot more connected to myself and my art since I started doing different things. I spent so much time only doing pop music, but I grew up as a girl who loved musical theatre and comedy.”

“So, I think the thing that will be best for my soul, and also for my art, and for what I’m giving to myself, is if I’m using things that feel very right in the moment.”

Grande referenced working on a movie which is thought to be Focker-in-Law, the next instalment of the Meet the Parents franchise. The movie wrapped filming in November.

“I read the script and I love it and it’s funny and I love the cast and I’m so excited,” she told Poehler. She then mentioned her “small stint of shows next year” which she explained had “authentically sounded good to me.”

But generally the Wicked: For Good star said she was looking at “other things” aside from her music, which she said had taken over her life for a while.

“I don’t want to say any definitive things; I do know that I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time,” she went on to say.

“So, I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful and I’m so grateful that I think that’s why I’m doing it because I’m like ‘One last hurrah!’” She then hastily added: “For now.”

While she clearly hasn’t ruled out any more music in the future, or more tours, it’s clear Grande is enjoying a well earned break from the rigour of touring.

Still, the news will likely come as a surprise to Grande’s fans who will be desperate to reunite with her after so much of her focus in the last few years has been on Wicked and its sequel, Wicked: For Good.

Grande was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role as ‘Glinda the Good’ in last year’s adaptation of the long-running Broadway musical. She was also nominated for a BAFTA for the same role.

Wicked: For Good, which is in cinemas on Friday (21 November), sees her reprise her role as Glinda for which Grande has already been highly praised.

In critics’ first reactions to the sequel, Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba/’The Wicked Witch of the West’ was celebrated for their “jaw dropping performances.” Grande was also called a “a tour de force,” and was predicted to win the Oscar in next year’s ceremony.

So, we may not be getting another album any time soon, but we’re still getting plenty of Ariana in our lives!
