Bad Bunny is slated to perform during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, taking place on Feb. 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA.

The Puerto Rican superstar was confirmed as the headline act for the grand sporting event during today’s Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys game.

Bad Bunny shared the news in his own statement.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Bad Bunny’s booking is the decision of Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which is helming next year’s halftime show.

The Super Bowl LX Halftime Show will be held at San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium on February 8th, meaning Bad Bunny will need to visit the US after leaving the country off his world tour.

The singer recently revealed his decision was tied to the Trump administration’s recent mass deportations targeting Latinos. When asked if his decision was “out of concern” for Latino fans, Bad Bunny responded: “Man, honestly, yes.”

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times,” he explained. “All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent.”

Bad Bunny will follow Kendrick Lamar in being a halftime show headliner, with the rapper putting on a spectacular performance at Super Bowl LIX.

Kendrick’s set, however, drew the ire of some, receiving 125 FCC complaints, according to several FOIAs filed following the event.

Plenty of other acts were touted as potential headliners for next year.

During an interview on The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich discussed the possibility of performing at the halftime show.

When asked by Stern whether Metallica would play the Super Bowl if they were asked, Ulrich replied, “Fuck yeah, of course, we would.”

“First of all, we would do it,” the drummer added. “Second of all to do it in San Francisco would be a dream come true and would be the right fit… Certainl,y as somebody who’s represented San Francisco all over the world and shouted for decades about San Francisco and our love for the Bay Area, that part of it is the right fit. Ultimately it’s not our decision.”

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell also extended an open invitation to Taylor Swift to perform at the halftime show, stating that she’s “welcome at any time.”

“We would always love to have Taylor play,” Goodell said during an appearance on the Today Show. “She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcome at any time.”

When asked directly if there were any official plans in the works to get Swift on the halftime show stage, Goodell played coy. “I can’t tell you anything about that,” he said at first, but when pressed, he added: “It’s a maybe.”

Shortly after the annoucement, fans and celebrities took to social media to react to the news.

One fan on X noted, “Bad Bunny is the Latino Taylor Swift,” highlighting that there wasn’t much to worry about in the win-win situation.

Another person explained: “He didn’t perform in the states because of concern of ice being outside of his 30+ locations with his predominately all Hispanic fanbase. He’s performing at the Super Bowl which is attended by mostly non Latinos. Why isn’t it clicking for yall?”

“undocumented immigrants are not going to be at the superbowl with ICE camping outside to arrest them … he didn’t tour here because his spanish-speaking fanbase would want to see him, and naturally that would make his concerts an ICE target. not the superbowl,” somebody else reiterated.

While another asked: “why are people being dense about this? rich white people attend the super bowl, ICE isn’t targeting them. and it’s safe to assume he intends to make a political statement building on the themes of his album; there’s power in doing that on a national stage.”

Other commenters shared how they were anticipating an “AMAZING” performance with Bad Bunny’s charisma and style. Meanwhile, some users spoke about the NFL’s final choice for halftime show, with one writing, “We are really running out of superstars to the superbowl halftime show. BAD BUNNY??? Really!?! Taylor Swift was right there.” Despite some initial discontent, the overall tone of audience responses has been positive.

One more wrote: “He's going to sing in Spanish at the most american event in the current political climate, It is clearly an intentional message.”
