Billy Ray Cyrus Reportedly Trying To Mend Relationship With Miley Cyrus Amid Family Feud

Billy Ray Cyrus is reportedly trying to make amends with daughter Miley Cyrus — but she isn’t having it.

An insider told Us Weekly Thursday that the country crooner, 62, has “tried reaching out to Miley many times” and even “congratulated her” on her two Grammys wins earlier this month despite the 31-year-old notably leaving him out of her acceptance speeches.

“Miley and Billy Ray are on the outs,” the source told the outlet. “Miley’s very close with her mom and is standing by her.”

“The kids have chosen sides, but friends are hoping the rift doesn’t last forever.”

Reps for Billy Ray and Miley did not immediately return our requests for comment.

Rumors of a Cyrus family feud hit the internet in August 2023 after Miley’s younger siblings — Noah and Braison Cyrus — “opted not to go” to mom Tish’s nuptials to Dominic Purcell despite being invited.

“It’s no secret neither of them approves of Dominic, and that’s created tension with their mom,” another source told Us Weekly.

Miley and older siblings Trace and Brandi Cyrus, however, were there to support their mother on her big day, which came just over one year after Billy Ray and Tish split for good.

While Miley and her mom are attached at the hip, Noah, on the other hand, has “always been close with Billy Ray.”

“It’s caused a rift between her and Miley,” the source told the outlet.

After years of ups and downs, Tish officially filed for divorce from the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer in April 2022 after 28 years of marriage.

“There’s nothing left to say, and they both harbor resentment,” the insider said of the former couple, noting that they also aren’t on speaking terms.

While the mother of five has since moved on with “Prison Break” star, Billy Ray got engaged to Australian singer Firerose, who is 27 years his junior, just five months after his split from Tish.

The couple wed in October 2023, yet it’s unclear which of his kids were there to witness the “ethereal celebration of love.”

“The family dynamics haven’t been the same since the divorce, and now that Tish and Billy Ray are with other people, there’s even more division among them all,” the second source told Us Weekly.

Meanwhile, a third insider claims that “Miley hasn’t gotten over the disrespect she feels Billy Ray showed Tish and the family.”

Tish told Cooper that she dealt with “disrespect in every form” during her nearly 30-year marriage to Billy Ray.

“Disrespect just lays it out in so many ways. I [didn’t] even know — until I had a new relationship [where] there was so much respect — how much disrespect there was in my marriage before,” she said. “Honestly, on both our parts.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Tish explained that she and Billy Ray had actually been separated since 2020, the same year that her mother died.

Although it’s unclear exactly what went down, Tish hinted at that “disrespect” during a recent appearance on Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast.

While Tish, who briefly split from the country singer in 2010 and 2013, stayed in Los Angeles during the COVID-19 pandemic, Billy Ray was locked down in Tennessee.

“I could not eat. I could not sleep. I could not stop crying. I literally weighed, like, 130 [pounds],” she told Cooper. “I don’t have my mom, and then I don’t have my husband that’s been my husband for 30 years. Like, holy crap, I’m scared.”

However, the newfound solitude proved to be “hugely transformative” for the blond beauty, who came to the conclusion that she was only with Billy Ray due to “fear” of “being alone.”

“[I was just] looking at myself and going, ‘What in the heck are you doing?’” she remembered. “And so I literally just had made that firm decision and was like, ‘I’m moving on with my life.’ And, you know what, girl? It worked out for the best.”

It's sad when there's a rift between parents and their children. I hope there's a way Miley and Billy can work things out, and hopefully reignite the bond between Miley and Noah.
