C&C Music Factory’s Robert Clivillés Says He’s Filed Suit Against Freedom Williams, Asks Fans to Tape Rapper's Show At Jones Beach

Robert Clivillés, the co-founder and sole living member of C+C Music Factory has filed a $30 million dollar lawsuit against frontman Freedom Williams.

Back in the disco days, Robert Clivillés and David Cole were C&C Music Factory.

They had a lot of big hits, most especially “Gonna Make You Sweat” aka “Everybody Dance Now,” the most ubiquitous dance hit of all time. Martha Wash’s vocals are still resounding through different galaxies, although there was some controversy regarding Wash, who filed a landmark lawsuit against C+C Music Factory's producers (Robert Clivillés and David Cole) and Sony Music for fraud and commercial appropriation. It alleged producers used her uncredited vocals for "Gonna Make You Sweat" while using a model to lip-sync on stage and in the music video.

Clivillés and Cole had a partner, Freedom Williams, who pulled a bitch move by snatching their trademark and started performing all over the world as C&C Music Factory. Cole died in 1995.

This past spring, Donald Trump’s Freedom 250 committee announced that C&C Music Factory would perform at his Great American stakeout on the Mall in DC. Of course, the event was cancelled, but not before Civilles denounced it and explained he and Williams were at each other’s throats.

Clivillés is asking fans to film Williams tonight (August 16) at his Jones Beach show.

Clivillés also revealed that he filed suit against Williams, who was allegedly served yesterday.
