Is Cardi B really the drama when she’s helped others who have, in turn, hurt her?

Cardi B is once again speaking her mind—and this time, she’s turning heads with her honesty about industry politics, trust, and betrayal. In a new interview with Kelly Rowland released September 15, the Bronx superstar detailed how supporting upcoming women in rap hasn’t always gone the way she intended.

“When I see like a new little bitch coming up… I’m sliding their DMs like, hey, this is temporary,” Cardi explained. For her, those private messages are a way of reminding rising artists that online hate doesn’t last forever. She described it as an act of solidarity—one rooted in her own experience of surviving public scrutiny.

But Cardi also admitted the gesture has backfired. “I have done that to bitches that done… fuck my man,” she said, referencing her soon-to-be ex-husband, Offset.

The betrayal, she explained, has made her more cautious about who she chooses to uplift. “You gotta know who you being nice to,” she added, suggesting that sympathy can quickly turn into regret when envy or opportunism enters the picture.

Her raw delivery—equal parts animated and frustrated—prompted laughter from Kelly Rowland, who told Cardi, “It’s not funny, but it’s how you’re delivering it.” That balance of humor and hard truth underscored the weight of Cardi’s point.

With her forthcoming album Am I The Drama? on the horizon, Cardi’s comments add another layer to her reputation for transparency. She continues to frame her personal struggles as lessons for fans and peers alike, offering unfiltered insight into the pressures of fame.

For Cardi, the digital era has made trust more complicated. Social media amplifies criticism and blurs the line between ally and rival, making it harder to know who’s genuine. Still, her reflections point to a larger truth about hip-hop’s current landscape: behind the glamour and accolades, loyalty and betrayal remain constant tests.

Cardi’s words, delivered with her trademark candor, remind listeners that in an industry built on perception, authenticity comes at a price. And as she prepares for her next chapter, she’s making it clear—she’s still navigating who deserves her trust and who doesn’t.
