Charli XCX & Kim Petras Clap Back at Nicki Minaj's Transphobic Tirade

As Nicki Minaj continues her MAGA spiral, one of her former collaborators, Kim Petras, has responded.

Brat star Charli XCX and “Unholy” singer Kim Petras have seemingly responded to Nicki Minaj’s anti-trans comments.

The 43-year-old “Anaconda” rapper has posted a string of what many of her queer fans are calling disappointing, anti-LGBTQ+ propaganda. This has come alongside her support for Republican President Donald Trump.

On Friday (12 December), that escalated when Minaj criticised California’s Democratic governor Gavin Newsom for expressing his support for trans children.

“I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community,” Newsom said on The Ezra Klein Show.

In response, Minaj posted: “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids.

“Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids.”

“Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.” Her post was accompanied by an image of the Chucky doll.

In another post just a few minutes later, Minaj continued: “Gavin is the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was.

‘trans kids r healthy btw’

“Oohhh look @‘m. Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible. He should get another leading role.”

These comments come after a spree of Minaj voicing her support for Trump and anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment. However, Minaj responded to the backlash, claiming that her support for Trump’s defence of Christians did not detract from her support of LGBTQ+ rights.

Following Minaj’s public comments, Charli and Petras made statements of their own.

One fan spotted that Charli had unfollowed Minaj on Instagram following her comments. However, this also coincides with Minaj deactivating her Instagram, which she did in October 2025.

Then, fans pointed out that Petras had seemingly removed her 2023 track “Alone”, which featured Minaj from Spotify. “Kim Petras has taken down Alone featuring Nicki Minaj,” one fan posted.

However, many have pointed out that the track is still available on their Spotify accounts.

Though the track may not have disappeared, it seems a recent post from Petras is a direct response to Minaj.

On Saturday (13 December), the day after Minaj’s posts, Petras wrote: “trans kids r healthy btw.”

Fans offered their full support in her replies. “Tell em mommy” one responded while another declared: “So glad you’re standing up for yourself. it’s disheartening to see such disgusting things being said from someone who worked with a trans theirselves.”
