Coachella tickets went on sale on Friday, Jan. 19. And four days later, tickets for the festival’s first weekend are still up for grabs —  for the first time in a decade.

According to SFGate, tickets for the 2024 iteration of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival are still available to purchase, a bad sign in comparison to past years when tickets were sold out within 40 minutes (2015) to a little over four hours (2022).

In 2023, the year that Frank Ocean was co-headliner for the event, tickets took just a few days to sell. But this year, ticket availability went live on Jan. 19, and nearly a week later, they're still up for grabs.

On X, many pointed to the economy for reasons that concertgoers aren't as enthusiastic about Coachella this year, mentioning the onslaught of job layoffs and signs of an impending recession.

Others said that the lineup wasn't much to be excited about, despite headliners like Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, Doja Cat and No Doubt, all whom have dedicated fanbases. It's worth mentioning that Doja was on the North American leg of the Scarlet Tour last fall, while Tyler's Call Me If You Get Lost tour was in 2022. The 2-time Grammy-winning rapper also relaunche Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival last fall after a nearly four-year hiatus. Del Rey performed at various stops in the past year to promote her ninth studio album, Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. No Doubt, who've disbanded on and off since 2004, released their latest album, Push and Shove, in 2012.

Despite the initial excitement for performers, some considered the headliners lukewarm in comparsion to past headliners like Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga.

Coachella will be held in Indio, California from Friday, Apr. 12, to Sunday, Apr. 21.

No shade, but I think it's because of the line-up. Personally speaking I never saw the appeal of Coachella, which has become a festival for snobby, rich elitists and wannabe scene queens (male and female).
