Amanda, who is best known for competing on season 16 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2024, came out as trans the same year. The performer fast became a fan favourite on the series thanks to her iconic clapbacks, and previously revealed that her appearance on the show helped to affirm her identity as a trans woman.
“But honestly, being on set and having people call me Amanda all the time, like ‘she/her ’ing me…push[ed] me out of the nest a little bit and crack[ed] the egg,” she previously said of the show.
In a Saturday (12 July) update, the star revealed that she’s set to undergo “life-changing gender affirming surgery” this week.
“Whenever people have asked me lately how/what I’m feeling, my response has usually been ‘I feel all of it!’,” she told her followers. “I’m also feeling so excited about what’s next (for the first time in a long time, mama)!”
Amanda told her followers that she’s stepping away from social media “to have some intentional, no social media/limited phone time”, and will instead share her thoughts in her journal.
“Finally feeling inspired to write down my thoughts again, and excited to see what ends up on the page,” she added.
Although Amanda herself won’t be present on social media, the star has enlisted the help of her “bestie/roommate” to post new content on her behalf “for engagement, so do all that like/comment/subscribe nonsense”, she urged her followers.
In the meantime, fans can look forward to an upcoming “FACE REVEAL Tour”, which Amanda has planned for autumn/winter in the US. The star added that she and her new agency are “currently ironing out dates” and have asked venues wanting to be a part of the lineup to get in touch.
We’re sending Amanda all the healing vibes and best wishes for her gender-affirming surgery.
