Drag Race’s Eureka O’Hara Cancels Tel Aviv Appearance After Backlash

RuPaul's Drag Race queen Eureka O Hara has reportedly pulled out of performing in Tel Aviv after being called out online by Discord Addams and other pro-Palestine supporters.

She addressed the criticism and apologised for her actions in a video posted to her Instagram on 15 February.

“I’ll just stand on all 10 toes when I say… Free Palestine!” she wrote in the caption. “A special thank you to the people that messaged me to discuss this and help me understand what was going on.

“Yes, I’m struggling as a trans woman trying to rebuild my life financially and work on my transitional surgeries but I would never accept money this way.”

In the video, Eureka explained her reasons for signing up to appear in the first place and why she ultimately decided to cancel the appearance.

“I was convinced that I would be showing up for queer communities that don’t have a say in their political climate,” she said, “and as someone living in America I was like, ‘okay, I get it, I should do it’.

“But what I decided is it’s not worth what it represents, me going there. So I’m cancelling the gig.”

She also revealed that she will no longer work with the manager with which she discussed the gig.

“I just want to work with people that understand my morals and ideals,” she said. “I’m sorry that this is affecting anyone negatively and I appreciate the feedback.”
