Cynthia Lee Fontaine, who competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race, has called out a website after it falsely claimed she had died.
The ‘Cucu’ Drag Race queen, who first appeared on season eight, responded to a news story from a supposed Drag Race fan site, Drag Spotlight 2025, that claimed on Facebook the star had passed away.
Writing on Instagram, Fontaine said: “This is absolutely False. Very out of the place this ‘page’ did promoting fake news. Shame on you.”
Encouraging her followers to report the page Fontaine added: “My apologies to my family, loved ones and Cucu fans for the emotional distress this false posting has created. I’m grateful for all your love and support.”
Fellow Drag Race alum Detox said: “This is insane,” while All Stars 8 winner Jimbo added: “Love you Sis.” Alexis Mateo said: “People will do anything for likes.”
Posting on her Instagram stories as well, Fontaine said “I’m alive and more stronger.” Blasting the fan site as “very irresponsible”, Fontaine said: “This really shows not everyone is a good fan.”
Screenshots of the fake story have also been posted on Reddit in a Drag Race forum where more people have expressed their shock. “My heart sank so much when I saw this. I thought it was real. Why do people do this? They need some serious help,” wrote one member.

Fontaine made her Drag Race debut on season eight where she was eliminated third. Despite this she was crowned Miss Congeniality for her vibrant energy on the show. It’s also understood that she had stage one undiagnosed liver cancer during the filming of season eight but is now in remission.
Fontaine was then invited back for season nine and also competed in All Stars 10.
In 2022, she revealed she had been diagnosed with Avascular Necrosis, a condition that causes the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply. She required a double hip replacement as a result.
