The final trailer for Dune 3 is here, and it's suitably epic.

Dust off your stillsuit and start brushing up on your sandwalk, because it's time to return to Arrakis for Denis Villeneuve's "Dune: Part Three." Based on Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel "Dune: Messiah," the third film in the saga is set a couple of decades after "Dune: Part Two," which ended with Paul Atreides' (Timothée Chalamet) unleashing a holy war on the Imperium. Paul, who is capable of seeing possible futures, chose this as the least-worst option, but it has nonetheless wrought mass death and devastation across the galaxy.
With the release of "Dune: Part Three" now mere weeks away, Warner Bros. has released the final full trailer for the movie, which you can watch above.
Despite the title, "Dune: Part Three" might not feel like the epic final chapter of a trilogy. Speaking to Empire magazine, Villeneuve described the film as an "a sophisticated epilogue" to the "diptych" of the first two movies. Chalamet echoed this, saying that "Part Three" is "a standalone movie, in a sense. It's its own beast." The novel itself was written by Herbert as a correction of sorts, for readers who finished "Dune" thinking that Paul Atreides was a hero whose leadership would save the galaxy. Instead, he becomes a figurehead of horror. No wonder everyone's out to kill him in "Dune: Part Three."
Paul is bald and bad now

If there was any doubt that Timothée Chalamet's Paul was headed to full-blown villaindom, this final "Dune: Part Three" trailer wipes it away. We learn here that for almost 20 years now, Paul, aka Muad'Dib, has become a full-blown genocidal dictator. This means he's amassed a horde of enemies, including his former lover Chani.
I've actually never read any of the "Dune" books so I have no idea where this is going, and I'm fine with that. I will say that this is a great trailer, once again selling the huge scope of these films and promising to deliver the darkest entry in the saga yet. And hey, here's a fresh synopsis.
Dune: Part Three is set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul must face the consequences of his reign as old allies return, terrifying new threats emerge, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a sweeping conspiracy, with Chani at the heart of its unfolding mystery. As rebellion brews and enemies close in, Paul must confront the true cost of power and the fate of those he loves the most.
"Dune: Part Three" arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
