Johnny is back for more first-person POV blood and carnage as Chris Nash‘s In a Violent Nature: Part 2 heads to theaters on Valentine’s Day weekend.

Masked killer Johnny (Ry Barrett) made a surprise appearance at New York Comic Con today to reveal that he’ll be carving up campers in sequel In a Violent Nature: Part 2, in theaters on February 12, 2027. The perfect date night movie for Valentine’s, perhaps?

The announcement comes on the heels of the film’s world premiere at Fantastic Fest, where the return of the franchise’s relentless killer surprised audiences as a secret screening.

Part 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first film, expanding Johnny’s lore as he finds a new crop of victims. This time, Johnny’s violent rampage leads him to a summer camp just as a young, outcast camper is forced to spend the night with his counselor sister and her friends at their annual end-of-season party.

Nate Wilson co-directs with returning director Chris Nash, who also penned the script. The film is produced by Peter Kuplowsky, Shannon Hanmer, and Nash.

Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven (Blood Quantum), Laurie Babin (Red Rooms), Fionn Laird (“The Institute”), Donald MacLean Jr. (The Craft: Legacy), and Evan Marsh (Shazam) also star.

“With this sequel, fans can expect an exponential increase of the ol’ ultraviolence with a distinct hook, but one that still collides with storied slasher traditions,” Kuplowsky said previously, and he’s not exaggerating. In a Violent Nature: Part 2 not only doubles the body count, but gets even more outrageous with the deaths.

I wrote in my Fantastic Fest review, “Nash and Wilson not only top the yoga-pretzel kill of the first with a gruesomely protracted stand-out sequence but also deliver a solid handful of crowd-pleasing kills that’ll leave gorehounds howling.“

But it also takes a much more straightforward approach, shifting the story from Johnny’s perspective to its new young protagonist: “As a showcase of stunning practical effects and slasher carnage, In a Violent Nature 2 tops its predecessor with ease. That’ll be more than enough for those looking for a fun time, but this sequel doesn’t have much to offer beyond its inventive gore.“
