Back in February of 2023, it was reported that Sony Pictures is developing a sequel to I Know What You Did Last Summer, and are looking to bring back the film's original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Freddie says he has heard nothing about being cast in the film when the trades made the announcement, but in a recent interview on the Inside of You podcast with Michael Rosenbaum, Jennifer Love Hewitt revealed that she would be 100% on board with reprising her role as final girl Julie James.
“I loved making those movies. I’d do it. For sure,” she added.
According to reports, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) was attached to direct the franchise’s next movie with Sony, with Leah McKendrick handling script writing duties.
In the original 1997 film, which was directed by Jim Gillespie, “Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.”

I definitely need Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr back for a IKWYDLS legacy sequel, that picks up after the events of the first film.
Even though I love me some Brandy, Mekhi Pfifer and Jennifer Esposito, the script for ISKWYDLS was god awful, and the franchise deserves better than the rushed mess that film turned out to be.
I have no idea where they plan to go with the sequel, but all I know is we need it ASAP!
