John Wayne Bobbitt Vows to Sue Hulu If New Season of ‘Good American Family’ Portrays Him as ‘Abusive’

John Wayne Bobbitt is threatening Hulu with legal action for failing to include his side of the story ahead of the release of their new anthology series Good American Family.

John, 59, spoke out after it was announced that season 2 of the show will center on his infamous relationship with ex-wife Lorena Bobbitt, who is working as a consultant on the project.

In an interview with The U.S. Sun published on Friday, August 21, John said that he thinks producers should have also asked him to consult on the series, and he accused Lorena, 57, of continuing to perpetuate a false account of their marriage.

“Her story is false. There is nothing true about her story. My attorney told me about this and we have court manuscripts and police reports which state that she was never abused,” he told the publication. “I have no idea what will be in this new documentary, but they had better get ready for a lot of lawsuits.”

John continued, “My attorney has told me she cannot say I was abusive. I will sue them if they say that.”

His concerns stem from the allegations made in the case that made him and Lorena a household name more than three decades ago.

On June 23, 1993, Lorena cut off John’s manhood with a kitchen knife while he was sleeping at their home in Manassas, Virginia. She drove away with the severed organ and threw it from her car before authorities recovered it. (Surgeons were later able to reattach it.)

Lorena claimed that John had physically and sexually abused her throughout their marriage and alleged that he had raped her before the attack. He has consistently denied the allegations.

John was charged with marital sexual assault but was acquitted by a jury in November 1993.

Lorena was later tried for malicious wounding, but she was found not guilty by reason of temporary insanity in January 1994 and underwent evaluation at a state psychiatric hospital.

However, John was later convicted of domestic battery involving another woman. In 1994, he was convicted twice of battering his then-fiancee, Kristina Elliott, with one judge calling him a “bully,” according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

Years later, he was convicted of battery involving his then-wife, Joanna Ferrell, in 2003.

Now, as their story gets ready to return to the spotlight, John maintains that he was the victim in their relationship and said he wants Hulu to present his version of events as well.

“You need both sides of the story,” he told The U.S. Sun. “We are talking about ethics here.”

The second season of Good American Family will dramatize the Bobbitt case. The first season focused on the story of Natalia Grace.
