Kylie Minogue performed the house down boots last night at Jones Beach at KTUphoria, but before she took the stage, the international pop star sat down for an interview where she gushed on her new single Padam Padam breaking all types of records, how the younger audience doesn't care about the age of the artist, coming to America to tour her next album, and a possible musical collaboration with Madonna.
Madonna and Kylie have had a deep admiration for one another for as long as I can remember. Back when Kylie was battling cancer, Madonna showed her support for the pop singer by wearing a Kylie Minogue T-shirt as she performed at the MTV Europe Music Awards back in November 2000.
Rumors of a duet between both pop icons have been floating around since 2012, but with Madonna collaborating with so many up and coming acts over the years (Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, Tockisha, The Weeknd, to name a few) a collaboration between Madonna and Kylie is long overdue. In fact, a duet with these two would cause the universe to shift off it's axis.
Speaking of long overdue, Kylie touring the US is something we longtime Kylie fans need in our lives, especially since the last time I saw Kylie perform was when she did the For You For Me tour back in 2009 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. It is an experience I will never forget.
I also love that because of Padam Padam Kylie has a lot of younger fans discovering her music. It just goes to show that the music industry and their ageism cannot control how audiences receive music regardless of the person singing it.
Music is music at the end of the day, and you can't predict what will and will not be a hit in the eyes of the consumer.
