Lady Gaga Cancels Concert in Montreal Just Hours Before Taking the Stage Due To Respiratory Infection

Lady Gaga canceled her Montreal Mayhem Ball Tour show due to an upper respiratory infection, as advised by her doctor.

In a post shared on Instagram Stories yesterday, Gaga apologized for being “unable to perform,” writing, “I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover. But it’s gotten worse. My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and to be honest I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve.”

Gaga was scheduled to play three shows at the Bell Centre in Montreal, with the first two shows taking place April 2 and 3. She has just three dates left on the 2026 leg of her Mayhem Ball tour, including gigs in Saint Paul, Minnesota this week (April 9 and 10) that — as of now — are still on. And she’s still scheduled to wrap the run with a return to Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 13.

Speaking to fans in Montreal, Gaga said of the cancellation, 'I've been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover, but it's gotten worse.'

She continued: 'My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today and to be honest I don't think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve.

'I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down,' she wrote. 'I'm so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me.

'Being in Montreal and performing for you on Thursday and Friday was magical and deeply meaningful.'

She concluded her post by writing: 'To everyone who was coming tonight, I'm absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.'

Gaga has spent much of the past year on the road in support of her celebrated LP, Mayhem, which was released last March and recently won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. The record marked her first proper pop album since 2020’s Chromatica, though she remained busy in the intervening years with a variety of projects including a second album with the late Tony Bennett (Love for Sale) and Harlequin, her companion album for Joker: Folie à Deux.

While Gaga’s Mayhem era appears to be winding down, she’s just teamed up with Doechii for a new song, “Runway.” The track was penned for The Devil Wears Prada 2 and recently featured in the film’s latest trailer.
