Lil Nas X finally kicked off his first ever concert tour on Tuesday, September 6 in Detroit. The tour, entitled the Long Live Montero Tour, and it featured a few surprises.
During his set, he performed smash hits Induatry Baby, That's What I Want, Montero (Call Me By Your Name), and a whole lot more.
He even debuted a new unreleased song called StarWalking, but what really had his fans losing their shit was that he incorporated a dance performance to Beyoncé's Pure/Honey from her Renaissance album into his set.
While his fans felt he ate the performance, others like Legendary judge and ballroom aficionado Leiomy Maldonado tweeted the following...
For those wondering what 'noguing' means, it's basically someone giving a KFC/Panera Bread version of voguing.
Now she didn't specifically name Nas in her shade throwing, but the timing is a bit suspect given that his noguing moment went viral on social media.
I thought it was cute that an openly gay rapper added voguing into his set, especially since it's back on trend 30 years later after Madonna first helped Usher the style of dance into the mainstream.
However, the difference between Madonna and LNX is that Madonna at least had real voguers teach her how to vogue, and even put real life voguers into her music video and on her Blonde Ambition tour.
If I'm not mistaken, Sean Bankhead, who also choreographed the noguing moves in Megan Thee Stallion's Her video worked on the choreography for LNX's tour.
As someone who has a lot of friends in the ballroom scene, I just want these mainstream performers to respect the art of voguing, and not treat it as some little trend that will get you a bunch of clicks and likes on Instagram and TikTok.
