Sherri Shepherd's longtime friend — and a former cohost of The Real — Loni Love has come to the comedian and talk show hostess' defense amid the cancellation of her self-titled daytime series.

One day after the Sherri show was canceled after four seasons in syndication, Love criticized production company Debmar-Mercury for announcing the series' end in a joint statement without Shepherd.

"Sherri should have been given the courtesy of announcing her show’s end instead of an article announcing it," Love wrote Tuesday morning on X, referencing media coverage that included press statements revealing the show's cancellation, which circulated Monday on behalf of Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus.

Love said she wished Shepherd would have been given the same announcement privilege "Just like Kelly [Clarkson] got to announce her show’s end" earlier that day.

"It’s not like The Real, which was a panel show, but this was a solo-hosted show," Love said, nodding to the cancellation of her own talk show in 2022. "Or the production company could have at least made a joint announcement as a producer and host."

Love finished her statement by expressing that, "Seeing 'cancelled' stamped all over your picture is depressing, especially when the show was having good ratings. Only onward and upward from this," she finished, tagging Shepherd's personal X handle at the end.

On Monday, Bernstein and Marcus released a joint statement regarding the end of Sherri, in which they said, "This decision is driven by the evolving daytime television landscape and does not reflect on the strength of the show, its production — which has found strong creative momentum this season — or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd. We believe in this show and in Sherri and intend to explore alternatives for it on other platforms."

Production on season 4 will continue as planned, ahead of the show's final episodes airing in syndication sometime this fall.

Shepherd, who previously served as a cohost on The View from 2007-14, has yet to comment publicly on the news. A representative for the comedian and actress didn't respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment on Monday.

EW has additionally reached out to a representative for the Sherri show for comment.

Sherri debuted in September 2022 as a replacement for the iconic Wendy Williams Show, which went off the air amid its host's heavily publicized health challenges.

In an interview ahead of the Sherri series premiere, Shepherd revealed that she received a phone call from daytime legend Oprah Winfrey, who gave her advice on mounting a successful talk show.

"The advice that she gave me to do a talk show, I took 15 pages of notes until my fingers cramped up. I took a potassium pill because my fingers were cramped and I couldn't write anymore. I said, hold on, I have to commit this to memory, because nobody will believe that I'm talking to and laughing with Oprah," Shepherd told EW at the time.

She continued, "One thing I took from Oprah is, she said, 'Sherri, the show is not about the ratings, it's about the energy. You put out the energy, and it will come back in direct proportion to you from the audience. It's your responsibility. You're in charge of the energy that is on your show.' I felt that, because I was like, damn, I just wanted to show some viral videos and make people laugh. But it's true, it's the energy you give off, which is why we love Oprah."

New episodes of Sherri will air throughout 2026 in syndication. Check your local listings for showtimes in your area.

UPDATE: Sherri Shepherd has broken her silence after it was revealed her daytime talk show was canceled after four seasons.

The talk show host took to social media to express her gratitude following the support she received amid news that her show was ending.

“Wow! I am completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for me and The @sherrishowtv,” the Sex Lives of College Girls alum said on Instagram.

Shepherd also noted that she would address the show’s cancellation on her show, but she was taking some time off as she had been diagnosed with Covid.

“You might’ve noticed that yesterday and today I was struggling because I wasn’t feeling up to speed. Well it turns out I have Covid,” she added. “As soon as I feel better and return to the show, I will address all of the news that has come out. Until then, I am truly grateful that SHERRI has made such an impact on you! See ya soon.”
