Megan Thee Stallion Exits ‘Moulin Rouge’ Two Weeks Early on Heels of Breakup With NBA Star Klay Thompson

Megan Thee Stallion is bowing out of Moulin Rouge! early.

The three-time Grammy winner and actress has announced that her final bow as “Zidler” in Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical will be moved up to May 1 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

The artist, who stepped into the show March 24, was originally scheduled through May 17.

In a statement, Megan said, "Unfortunately, my last performance on Moulin Rouge! The Musical will be May 1. It’s been such an honor to be part of Moulin Rouge and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theatre! Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work! Every single person at the Moulin Rouge has inspired me to go harder as an entertainer. I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. Y’all are really some of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met! To all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!”

The news comes days after Megan accused her partner, NBA player Klay Thompson, of cheating on her, leading to their breakup April 25.

No announcement has been made about who will play the role of Zidler May 2–17; Patrick Clanton currently serves as understudy for the role of Zidler. Eric Anderson, who originated the role of Harold Zidler in early workshops and eventually played it on Broadway for two years, will return to the part May 19.

As recently announced, Moulin Rouge! The Musical has been extended an additional five weeks and will now play its final performance on Broadway August 30.

Megan made history as the first female-identifying performer to play the role of Zidler (formerly Harold Zidler, the part created by Tony winner Danny Burstein), not only in the Broadway production but in any Moulin Rouge! production worldwide.

She is a three-time Grammy-winning recording artist who has enjoyed three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, including “HISS,” “Savage (Remix)” with Beyoncé, and “WAP” with Cardi B. The multihyphenate has also acted in Dicks: The Musical, the 2024 Mean Girls film, STARZ’s hit show P-Valley, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. She also hosted the MTV Video Music Awards, Saturday Night Live, and co-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The Broadway cast also includes Christian Douglas as Christian, Kelsie Watts as Satine, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, Ricky Rojas as Santiago, Samantha Dodemaide as Nini Hailee, and Arianna Rosario as the Satine Alternate.
