‘Miami Vice’ Reboot in Jeopardy? Michael B. Jordan Now Demanding $18M Salary After Oscar Win

A few days can make quite a difference at the negotiating table.

Turns out, according to The InSneider, Jordan’s new rep at WME, James Farrell, told him to wait until after the Oscars to finish negotiating. Wise decision. Jordan won the golden statuette, and guess what? He’s now asking for a lot more money.

Jordan has now increased his salary demands for “Miami Vice” — he wants $18M, according to Sneider’s well-placed source. That would be around double the salary his co-star, Austin Butler, would be getting — and if the rumors are true that director Joseph Kosinski wants Tom Cruise to play the villain, then you have nearly $50M of the budget going to just three actors.

Is Jordan worth the $18M? Maybe, maybe not. Hard to say, but his filmography does include “Sinners,” “Black Panther,” and three “Creed” movies. If I’m Universal and Kosinski, do I wait it out until next year? Jordan’s already shot his next film, a “Thomas Crown Affair” remake, which I’ve heard is… forget about it. You can read between the lines. He directs and stars in that film, which is set for a March 2027 release.
