Pink Faces Backlash After She Accuses Macklemore of "Antisemitism" Over 'Po-Palestine' Set at Ed Sheeran Concert

Pink has entered the debate surrounding Macklemore’s politically charged opening set for Ed Sheeran. However, her decision to amplify calls for apologies and refunds has now brought plenty of criticism her way.

Pink reacted after Macklemore opened for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sept. 4 and 5. The singer reshared a StopAntisemitism post through her Instagram Story. The post criticized Macklemore’s pro-Palestinian message and argued that concertgoers deserved apologies and refunds.

During his set, Macklemore wore a keffiyeh and told the crowd, “Free Palestine.” He also performed Hind’s Hall, his protest song supporting Palestinians. Meanwhile, footage from the concert showed pro-Palestinian imagery on the stadium screens. Macklemore also spoke about people in Gaza and the West Bank.

The rapper has voiced support for Palestinians for years. His protest music has previously addressed the Israel-Gaza war and student demonstrations. Still, Pink’s response quickly shifted some attention away from Macklemore. Her decision to share the refund demand divided social media users.

Some supported the argument that fans attending Sheeran’s concert did not expect political messaging from an opening act. However, others criticized Pink for objecting to Macklemore using his stage to express a political position.

The backlash also raised questions about Sheeran’s role. However, his official tour page continues to list Macklemore as support for upcoming U.S. dates. As of Sept. 7, Sheeran had not announced refunds over the performances. He also had not publicly said he planned to remove Macklemore from the tour.

The debate arrives as other musicians continue using concerts to address the conflict. Recently, Massive Attack also drew attention after displaying pro-Palestinian material during a performance.

So now Pink fans called for a boycott of her music after the Raise Your Glass singer reshared an Instagram post condemning Ed Sheeran over Macklemore's bold political statement during the concert.

A controversial Zionist activist group shared a clip from the opening on Instagram, calling for Ed Sheeran and his team to apologize and offer fans refunds over the rapper's comments, and also claimed Macklemore "accused Israel of a false 'genocide,'" referring to the speech as "propaganda."

Pink, whose real name is Alicia Moore, shared the post on her own account, prompting fans to quickly take to social media to condemn the singer.

Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote, "Wanted to make sure people knew Pink was sharing a post calling the genocide in Gaza a 'false genocide,'" as others piled in with comments slamming Pink for the post.

"Not sure why this one shocked me so much coming from her. Oh well, stream Macklemore," one wrote, as another added, "Oh for f---s sake as a Pink fan…we can’t have anything. Former fan, I guess. F--k."

One fan fumed, "Trash behavior by Pink sharing this nonsense."

Others called for a boycott of her music, with one Redditor writing, "Welp. I will be deleting Pink from my playlist," while another echoed, "Deleted and unfollowed on everything!"

Pink needs to stick to releasing the same sounding songs she's been releasing since releasing Misundaztood in 2001, and doing the same monotonous somersaults mid air at her tired ass concerts than worrying about what others are doing at their shows.

I first became aware of Alicia's zionism a few months ago when I saw she did an interview with Israeli propagandist, Noa Tishby. For those not familiar with Tishby, she's notorious for spewing a bunch of disgusting Islamophobic things about Palestinians. This also makes me believe that the riot grrl, feminist image she was putting on was about as performative as Gloria Steinem (who was a CIA asset, BTW) was regarding feminism.

Because how do you go from writing Dear Mr President about George W Bush to all of a sudden supporting a genocide against Palestinians? I guess she's no different than Koonye saying George W Bush doesn't care about black people to saying that slavery is a choice.
