Real Friends of WeHo star Joey Zauzig, who was pretty much labeled the "drama" of the show recently sat down with Ty French for an interview with Interview Magazine, and he not only spilled a lot of tea about his castmates, but also felt that the gays didn't give the show a fair chance.
Before we get to what he said about some of his castmates, Zauzig gave his thoughts regarding the backlash of the show, which airs every Friday right after Drag Race.
“People are gonna hate-watch it, people are gonna shit on it, because that’s kind of what happens, unfortunately, in the queer community,” he told WeHo resident and podcasting king Ty French.
When Ty asked Zauzig about being "the drama," Joey says he was surprised to be given that title, but he also said he was surprised he was the only castmate who knew what they were getting themselves into regarding the show's subject matter.
“When you go on a reality show, you sign up to be vulnerable and to be yourself and nothing can be off limits when you sign that contract, b*tch,” he shares. “So yeah, in the beginning, I felt like, ‘Okay, I’m the only one bringing up sh*t.'”
He called out two of his cast mates in particular:
“I hope I don’t get in trouble for saying this, but certain cast members, Dorión [Renaud] and Jaymes [Vaughan,] it was very difficult to work with them.”
Zauzig says his issue with Vaughan was that he didn’t seem willing to talk about the drama, and instead wanted to be a peace-maker and a mentor, of sorts.
“With Jaymes, he was kind of trying to be like, ‘I’ll be your big brother,'” Zauzig reveals. “Like, I don’t need a big brother. And it’s definitely not gonna be you.”
Zauzig, who butted heads with Renaud out the gate revealed their issues ran much deeper than what was shown on camera.
“Dorión was trying to hold his whole persona as being better than everybody,” Zauzig says. “And like, that didn’t work out too well for him.”
“The thing that really pisses me off,” he adds, “now Dorión has gone on these interviews and he’s like, “This isn’t the show that I signed up for” What contract did you sign, sweetie? We signed the same goddamn thing. I want people to know. He tried to go on and make it the Dorión show.”
Zauzig is referring to Dorión's exclusive interview with B Scott where he claimed he was misled by the show's producers.
Joey said after the show wrapped he did reach out to Dorión to find out where they went wrong, but his text has remained unanswered.
He did reveal that he's heard that Renaud has been "talking to Curtis Hamilton about me behind my back."
This is the kind of juicy drama we needed throughout the show, but we never got it because too many of the cast members were busy trying to produce themselves.
It would have been great if TRFOWH would have gotten a reunion, but based on the online hate surrounding the show, I don't see it happening.
Also Dorión wouldn't have shown up to the reunion, especially since he hasn't shown up to promote the show.
As for the possibility of a second season, Joey says that he can't speak publicly on a second season.
If the show does get renewed, bring in some people who are willing to let it all hang out on camera, and bring on some sex workers, drag queens, bloggers and gogo boys - real movers and shakers in the gay entertainment industry.
