OG Real Housewives of New York City star Luann de Lesseps brings up the pop icon on Sunday’s premiere of the Bravo spinoff after a discussion about whether or not her costars should call her “Countess” or “Lu.” (Luann was previously married to French Count Alexandre de Lesseps, earning her the title of Countess, which she has since turned into a brand for her cabaret show.)
“I’m really just Lu from Connecticut,” Luann says in a confessional. “Like J. Lo is from...the hood?”
A producer chimes in and says, “Um, from the block?”
“Oh, sorry!” Luann exclaims.
Earlier this week, Entertainment Weekly asked the reality personality about the remark at the premiere party for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th at The Lobster Club in NYC.
“I couldn’t think!” Luann tells EW. “Because let me tell you, I lived for many years in Europe during the ’90s, 2000s. Of course, I know Jenny from the Block, but I forgot. So I said the hood. I’m a little embarrassed. I hope J. Lo is not upset with me because I love her.”

Luann then confirms she knows Lopez’s nickname from her popular song of the same name. “I forgot the words. So I said the hood—it’s a neighborhood, the Bronx. Jenny from the Bronx. I love it!”
She adds, “We love J. Lo! “
Luann is one of seven Housewives who will go on a road trip to visit the franchise’s cities for the all-stars spinoff this season. She joins RHOC’s Vicki Gunvalson, RHOA’s Porsha Williams, RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice, RHOBH’s Kyle Richards, RHOP’s Gizelle Bryant, and RHOSLC’s Lisa Barlow.
“Everybody on this trip was a legend and icon from their franchise,” Lisa tells EW. “So, for me, I felt this level of comfort where people weren’t, like, identity hacking or trying to be someone or something they’re not. They were just authentically being themselves. And that was fun for me.”
Lisa had an easier time bonding with her fellow Bravo stars than her own Salt Lake City castmates.
“We just came off of my season 6. The reunion was airing while I was on girls’ trip, and I just wanted to celebrate, be me and have fun and just vibe,” she says. “It was a good feeling. I loved it.”
The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th airs on Bravo Sundays at 9 p.m. ET, and streams the next day on Peacock.
