Rosalía Says Her Type is ‘Gay Men’ as She Opens Up About Dating

Mariana Enriquez asked Rosalia to name a quality she looks for in a man.

Rosalía, who dated Euphoria star Hunter Schafer for several months in 2019, opened up about dating in a conversation with Argentine author Mariana Enríquez.

The chat was part of Spotify introducing Spotify A/Presenta to Latin America, a dedicated space that celebrates the artistry, inspiration and process behind the music.

In the interview, filmed last year in Buenos Aires, Enríquez asks the singer: “What is the quality you like most in men?” She responds: “That he’s gay.” The pair laugh, with Enríquez adding: “Well, that makes two of us.”

Expanding on what she likes in a woman, Rosalía says: “It is kind of funny that they separate the two because the first thing to mind is what is the quality that stands out the most or catches your attention, of any person.”

When Rosalía asks Enríquez what she likes in a woman, she replies: “Sense of humour.”

In a 2024 interview with GQ, Scahafer said she still has a “beautiful friendship” with the Catalan singer-songwriter – who has recorded with the likes of Billie Eilish and Bad Bunny – and she remains “family, no matter what”.

In an interview with Elle Magazine last year, Rosalía said she feels no pressure to put a label on her sexuality.

“I think of freedom. That’s what guides me,” she said.

Rosalía joined the cast of Euphoria for season three, joining her ex Schafer. Joining Rosalía in Euphoria as newbies are Sharon Stone, Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth and Marshawn Lynch among others.

Euphoria season three will premiere on 12 April on HBO and HBO Max in the US and on Sky and NOWTV in the UK on 13 April.
