RuPaul Goes Viral After Gagging Fans with Epic DJ Set in Texas: ‘Ru and Her Side Quests Again’

The mother of drag (queens) recently popped the corn, and fed the children with their recent DJ set in Texas.

RuPaul performed a set at The Concourse Project in Austin on Saturday (9 August), with the drag icon, singer and host of RuPaul’s Drag Race claiming in an Instagram video ahead of the performance that “we will have a good time, Texas!”

Videos of the set showed the 64-year-old in a casual hoodie and glasses behind the decks blasting house music, as well as shouting his famous quote, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?” to the screaming crowd.

TikTok user Juan Villela, who was at the show on Saturday, posted a video clip of the set, stating: “Mamá Ru was on another level!” It’s had over 300,000 views at the time of writing.

Fans were obsessed with the DJ set, with one writing: “Ru is doing everything but retiring. She’s really giving the kids what we want.”

“I left so exhausted from dancing,” another user said after seeing the set. Another joked: “Ru and her side quests again.”

A third fan remarked on the fact that commenters were shocked at Ru’s DJ talent, writing: “Everyone surprised by her eating this up? Gurls she was out raving before we were all born.”

RuPaul will be soon back with RuPaul’s Drag Race UK for a seventh season, with the first teaser trailer revealing that the full line-up of queens competing in season seven will be announced on Friday 22 August, with the new series “coming soon”.

The official Drag Race UK social media pages posted a seconds-long clip featuring some of the new cast of queens, with the caption teasing: “Start your engines.”
