RuPaul’s Drag Race season 15 queen and popular finalist Lexi Love has shared how she has left her stint in rehab after announcing to fans last week that she would be in the facility for quite some time.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 17 finalist Lexi Love has offered her followers an update on her recovery after leaving rehab facility due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Trans icon Lexi Love gagged viewers during the seventeenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, making it all the way to the top four with a little help from some jaw-dropping runway lewks, a charming personality and an admirable honesty when it came to her past.

Love was open about her struggles with substances and other ordeals while appearing on the season, and shortly after Onya Nurve snatched the crown, she announced that she was taking a “step back” from drag.

Two weeks later, Love confirmed that she would be “gone for a while” after checking into a rehab facility for substance abuse treatment and emotional therapy.

But the 34-year-old has today (19 May) returned to social media to offer fans an update, and share that her time in that specific rehab facility, in Texas, was “short-lived due to some unforeseen circumstances.”

In a post shared to Love’s social media, she wrote, “No matter what I try to keep an optimistic mindset but SOMETIMES; DIVAS, I’m just trying to prevent new TRAUMA from sprouting. Unfortunately, my time in rehab was short-lived due to some unforeseen circumstances, overwhelming bias’s [sic] and lack of professionalism where I was staying.”

She continued, “What is important is today is the 19th and we are still 19 days sober from … Narcotics and hard liquor and THAT is more important than anything else!! of course due to these factors, I will have to seek out further progress on my understanding of my personal relationship to addiction.

“I’m not gonna lie, I feel like I am fully capable of doing this, given some of my newfound self-worth and or clarity.

“Update: I will be spending the next 12 days preparing and continuing to indulge on my own personal path to recovery and get ready to see all of you and your smiling faces next month in June for pride where I will be continuing all of my regular bookings!!!”

She signed off with her trademark, “I [Lexi Love you] ALL and can’t wait to see you again.”

Lexi Love’s manager and friend TJ Liedel shared a statement to Entertainment Weekly when she first checked into rehab, saying, “Unfortunately, people demonize these things, but the only way we can get better about it is to be public, share stories, and actively work toward healthier, happier times.

“We appreciate the support of everyone. Know that Lexi appreciates everyone in their support, and she will be back soon. We Lexi Love you.”

Love opened up about her past on the season, including drug use and a terrifying human trafficking ordeal, as well as disclosing her HIV status, resulting in a huge wave of support from fans.

Though season 17 has finished, it is available to stream in its entirety on WOW Presents Plus – and All Stars 10  has also started on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally from 9 May.
