Lexi Love, best known for stomping the runway all the way to the top four of season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race before finishing in joint 3rd/4th place alongside Sam Star, has announced her engagement to long time partner Jay Groff.
In a joint post today (18 June), Groff, alongside a picture of the pair stood underneath a wedding veil à la Lexi’s Betsey Johnson design challenge runway, wrote, “We got ENGAGED!!!
“I could write a book about my love for you but I’ll just say this: I promise to love you to my fullest capacity everyday for as long as we both live.”

The pair have been congratulated by multiple RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, including All Stars 6 winner Kylie Sonique Love, who wrote, “Congratulations love,” and several of Lexi’s season 17 sisters.
Suzie Toot wrote, “OMGGGG” and “CONGRATS BABY” in two separate comments, while the season’s runner-up, Jewels Sparkles, commented several crying emojis.
Lana Ja’Rae added, “babyyyyyy” and Canada’s Drag Race star Aurora Matrix wrote, “Awww congrats angels”.
Love has had somewhat of a turbulent time since her season finished airing; on the show, she opened up about her past on the season, including drug use and a terrifying human trafficking ordeal, as well as disclosing her HIV status, resulting in a huge wave of support from fans.
But shortly after the season ended, she announced that she was taking a “step back” from drag. Two weeks later, Love confirmed that she would be “gone for a while” after checking into a rehab facility for substance abuse treatment and emotional therapy.
The 34-year-old then offered her followers an update on her recovery after leaving the rehab facility due to “unforeseen circumstances”, celebrating 19 days sober from substances in mid-May.
Congratulations, Lexi and Jay!
