RuPaul’s Drag Race Star Reveals What Really Happens When You’re Eliminated

ree

Trixie Mattel is spilling some tea regarding her elimination from RuPaul's Drag Race season 7.

Most queens that enter a season of RuPaul’s Drag Race end up eliminated, with only three or four per season reaching the finale – but it takes a special kind of diva to be eliminated twice in one season.

That diva is season seven fan favourite Trixie Mattel, who has since famously spun her straw into gold, going on to win All Stars 3, and become one of the most famous drag queens on the planet.

Before there was global megastar Trixie, there was the RuPaul’s Drag Race newbie who got eliminated by RuPaul on episode four of season seven, after a parody music video challenge, way back in 2015.

But what actually happens when a queen gets chopped from the show? And what do the rest of the cast do while she’s packing up her things to hit the house?

Well, speaking on The Bald and the Beautiful podcast with frequent co-conspirator and season seven co-star Katya, Trixie has answered just that.

“When you get eliminated… you leave, [the producers] take you [off], while all the other drag queens wait behind the Main Stage in silence in what feels like hours,” she shared.

“Forever,” added Katya. “I forgot about that.”

Trixie continued: “So everyone who’s safe sits [behind the Main Stage], one person has won, one person has just gone home, and the story producers stand there with cattle prods, because they’re like, ‘Don’t spill the tea without the cameras.'” NB: the cattle prod reference is definitely a joke for any overly concerned readers.

“Which, by the way, is what I would do,” she said. “I would slap people and say: ‘Don’t f**king talk about that till we get the cameras up.'”

Returning to her own elimination, the RuPaul’s Drag Race star continued, “So [the producers] make everyone wait, they take you to a room, you’re still in drag. I think they let you get out of makeup, and they sit you down and go: ‘You did a great job.’

“I remember they went: ‘Four episodes? That’s a month of television. You’re going to be on TV for four weeks. Plus, you get to come back for a reunion.’ They were telling me very true stuff.

“Thairin [one of the show’s producers] said: ‘You’re forever a Drag Race girl, and you can do anything with this, and it’s not a big deal. Someone went home yesterday, someone goes home tomorrow.'”

Season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race featured a challenge in which all the eliminated girls were brought back – and Trixie also confirmed that she was notified of this on her elimination.

“They said: ‘You’re coming back in a week,'” she added.

Elsewhere in the Drag Race Runiverse, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season seven is on the way, and Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale recently premiered. And the casts for Drag Race UK vs. the World‘s third season and All Stars 11 are already kicking about…

The RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 grand finale is streaming now on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally.
