RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Officially Renewed for Season Eight – with Applications Now Open

Days before the seventh season of Drag Race UK is set to premiere, now comes word that the hit franchise has just been runuwed for season 8.

Though RuPaul’s Drag Race UK hasn’t even begun airing its seventh season (though that starts at the back end of this week), it seems like Mama Ru hasn’t had enough of the United Kingdom and its dolls just yet.

The TV titan, itself a spinoff of the American flagship franchise RuPaul’s Drag Race, was officially announced to be returning for season eight via the show’s official social media accounts.

“Think YOU could be the UK’s Next Drag Superstar?” the post read. “Applications for #DragRaceUK 8 are NOW OPEN.”

Mama Ru also gave any prospective queens a quick PSA in the accompanying video: “Calling all UK queens; casting for season eight of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is open, officially.

“If you’ve got the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent, apply now.”

And those looking to succeed whoever succeeds Kyran Thrax as the winner of season seven, should sashay to the official application link – here. The deadline to get those tapes in is 17 October.

But before those queens enter the Werk Room, viewers have the pleasure of watch season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, the cast of which features another twelve divas vying for the crown.

Among them is Sasha Colby‘s drag daughter, a Queen of the Universe alum and some fantastic drag names.

They’ll be joined by a star-studded panel of guest judges and stars, including Joel Dommett, Jane Horrock, Nadine Coyle, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell, Mutya Buena and more.

Season six will also include six additional guest stars – presumably for the season’s makeover challenge – includin Celebrity Big Brother winner David Potts and British TV icon Dani Harmer (yes, the Tracy Beaker).

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK season seven begins on BBC iPlayer on 25 September.
