Sarah Michelle Gellar Shares a Casting Call for Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot

Think you have what it takes to share scenes with Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar & Ryan Kiera Armstrong?

In every generation, there is a chosen one, and the time has come to find a new cast to stand against the vampires, the demons and the forces of darkness. Original series star Gellar, who played the titular Buffy Summers, has shared details for an open casting call for the upcoming follow-up series.

Earlier this year, the actress confirmed that a series reboot is in the works, writing on Instagram: “I promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there,” Gellar added.

On Tuesday (21 May), Gellar shared details of an open casting call for “the new Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show” on behalf of 20th Television, Searchlight Television and Hulu.

The post reads: “Are you interested in being in the new BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER TV show? If you are located in the US and over the age of 18, submit an audition!

“20th Television, Searchlight Television, and Hulu are conducting an open casting call for various roles for the new TV series in the BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER franchise. No previous experience required.”

The casting call requires applicants to submit a 30-second video talking about their favourite character, episode or moment from the original series, and provide a headshot, their full name, height and location.

Casting directors have already, however, found their new slayer. Deadline confirmed earlier this month that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’s Ryan Kiera Armstrong has landed the lead opposite Gellar, who will be reprising her original role.

In a new interview with Us Weekly, Gellar revealed that several children of her former co-stars “came in” to audition for a role in the reboot. “I know somebody who was on the show whose child auditioned on the show. I know a few people from the show whose children came in,” she said.
