RuPaul’s Drag Race has become accustomed to hiring the biggest superstars to help kickstart a new season, with Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, Naomi Campbell and Ariana Grande doing duty in the past.
Season 17 started no differently, with “California Gurls” crooner Katy Perry taking up that mantle.
And while Joella – Slaysian Diva of Los Angeles, icon in local drag known for her opulent looks and Katy Perry superfan – might have been thrilled to see her role model as the guest judge on the season premiere of season 17, it seems that not the entire cast shared her sentiment.
Speaking at the Beverly Center mall in Los Angeles for the OUTLOUD Presents Pride kickoff in a TikTok posted to the account @greggusto, Kori King shared that not every queen was gagged to see the “Woman’s World” singer in the Werk Room.
“Katy Perry walked in, and it was me, Crystal [Envy] and Jewels [Sparkles] talking, and she goes, ‘Hey!’ And I remember Jewels just went, ‘Do we care?'” Kori said. Savage.
In the TikTok, which has at time of publishing been viewed nearly a quarter of a million times, Suzie Toot then clarified that this was during the premiere episode’s Untucked segment, rather than when Perry dropped by the Werk Room earlier.
Kori continued, “And then Crystal goes, ‘Guys, let’s just go’. So we sat and heard her talk, and she was actually funny – but we wanted to discuss how we were voting [in the episode’s Rate-A-Queen twist].”
That’s not the only unaired shade that happened on season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, it turns out; Arrietty recently revealed that she ‘threw things’ on set after her elimination.
While Perry might not have exactly set Kori’s p*ssy on fire, the currently-airing All Stars 10 has a positive plethora of superstar guest judges, including Chappell Roan, Wicked‘s Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, rapper Ice Spice and more.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 will be available to stream on Paramount+ in the US and WOW Presents Plus internationally from 9 May.
