Slipknot Fans Outraged After Marilyn Manson Booked as Tour Supporting Act

Slipknot fans have hit out at the band’s decision to recruit Marilyn Manson as support for dates on their newly announced 2027 ‘(sic)est Stadium Tour’.

Manson is currently scheduled to join the band’s 2027 tour, which was announced Monday, for their run of dates in South America, as well as their concert at London’s Wembley Stadium.

However, fans of the masked metal band are now boycotting the shows over past abuse allegations against Manson. His ex, Evan Rachel Wood, came forward with abuse allegations against Manson in 2021. Wood’s statement prompted more than a dozen other women to share their own experiences of alleged abuse at the hands of Manson.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has denied all allegations against him.

“As the biggest ex Manson fan in the world, what the HELL. This is so disappointing,” one fan wrote on Instagram as another commented, “Would've loved to see this but there's literally nothing you could do to get my cash in Manson's pockets.”

One person added: “Literally pick anyone else ?????” while another noted, “Would have been going if Manson wasn’t on the bill. What a terrible decision by everyone involved.”

“No original members of slipknot remaining and you’re playing with manson… i’m disappointed i used to call you my favourite band,” another criticized, with one person adding: “So excited by this - and then saw MM was supporting. So, nope.”

Someone else chimed in: “I was SO excited for your tour announcement, I was even wearing one of your t-shirts at the time.. Until I read Manson’s name. I can’t believe this is the reason I can’t see one of my favourite bands. Do better.”

Thousands of similar comments expressing disappointment in the eight-piece band poured in under the post announcing the tour.

Neither Slipknot nor Manson have returned The Independent’s requests for comment.

Manson, 57, was publicly accused of sexual and physical abuse by his former fiancée, actor Evan Rachel Wood, who was in an on-and-off relationship with the singer from 2007 to 2010.

In 2021, Wood shared an Instagram post naming Manson as her abuser. She alleged he “started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years.”

“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail,” the Westworld actor, now 39, wrote at the time. “I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

After Wood’s statement, more than a dozen other women came forward at the time and accused Manson of abuse.

Manson denied the claims on social media as “horrible distortions of reality,” saying: “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners.”

He later tried to file a defamation lawsuit against Wood, but it was thrown out by a Los Angeles judge in 2023.
