Tamar Braxton’s Global Black Pride Performance Sparks Debate Over Her Vocals: ‘Tamar Has No Business Singing Like This’

Tamar Braxton, who has made a career in reality TV using vernacular dominated by black gay men and trans women recently performed at Global Black Pride in Atlanta, and came under fire from fans over her lackluster vocal performance.

The 47-year-old singer and reality star drew criticism from fans after her set over the weekend, where she performed Let Me Know in a black mesh bodysuit paired with Chanel accessories.

Despite her stylish outfit and energetic dance moves, social media users were quick to critique her vocals after a fan-made video of the performance circulated.

On Twitter, reactions varied. One tweet highlighted a perceived irony in the situation, referencing Tamar Braxton’s past criticism of fellow singer Kandi Burruss:

“Not the universe swinging back at Tamar Braxton for calling Kandi Burruss ‘Billy Goat Voice’ last year and now she went to a festival with vocals winded and fried to the mic.”

In contrast, another user defended Tamar Braxton’s talent, stating:

“Tamar Braxton is a vocalist through and through. All singers have bad days but let’s not get it twisted, the girl is TALENTED.”

A third comment shifted the focus from Braxton, humorously suggesting that her fiancé, Jeremy “JR” Robinson, was responsible for her performance:

Despite the criticism, Tamar received the Ultimate Icon Award at the event and took to Instagram to express how she feels blessed and is moving forward, posting:

We all know Tamar is talented, and singers have good days and bad days. However I wish Tamar would focus on her talents as a singer and less on the reality TV antics.
