Trina Braxton's Husband Von Scales, Dead at 58

Trina Braxton is mourning her husband, Von Scales, who died at 58 on Thursday morning (Oct. 1).

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, beloved husband of Trina Braxton,” Trina’s publicist David Robinson said in a statement to BOSSIP. “The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers, but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event.”

Additional details surrounding Scales’ death were not immediately available. He was 58.

Trina and Scales married in December 2019 in St. Louis after meeting through mutual friends, and a year after the 2018 death of her ex-husband, Gabe Solis. Their relationship was chronicled on Braxton Family Values and later The Braxtons.

While discussing their romance with ESSENCE in 2019, Trina recalled realizing she was falling for Scales during their long-distance courtship.

“He’s just such a great conversationalist and I just enjoyed talking to him,” she said, adding that she found herself missing him whenever they weren’t speaking.

Scales also supported Trina as she mourned the 2018 death of her former husband, Gabe Solis.

“He really helped me through it; he stood right by me,” Trina told Entertainment Tonight in 2019. “I just thank God for him.”

Scales was an entrepreneur who also appeared alongside Trina on reality television.
