Usher and Justin Bieber Have Heated Exchange At Beyoncé's Oscars After-Party

Word on the street is that Usher and Justin Bieber got into it at an Oscars after-party hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z

An evening meant to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night took an unexpected turn when Usher and Justin Bieber got into a heated confrontation at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the incident.

The exchange drew attention from those present at one of the most talked-about gatherings of the weekend, and accounts of what happened have been circulating since. Some who witnessed or heard about the incident have described it as escalating to a physical altercation, but sources connected to Bieber have pushed back firmly on that characterization.

What sources say happened

According to people close to Bieber, Usher approached him at the party with noticeable aggression, and the two exchanged words in what was described as a tense but brief confrontation. Those same sources were clear that no physical contact took place. The encounter did not drag on, and it remains unclear precisely what the two men argued about.

Representatives for Usher did not respond to requests for comment, leaving only one side of the story publicly attributed. Bieber’s camp has not addressed the incident beyond what was shared with TMZ, which first reported the story.

A long and complicated history

Usher and Bieber’s connection goes back further than most current fans may remember. Usher played a central role in helping launch Bieber’s career alongside manager Scooter Braun when Bieber was still a teenager. The mentorship shaped the early years of one of pop music’s biggest commercial trajectories.

Their relationship has grown more complicated with time. A source close to Bieber told TMZ that the singer has been working to distance himself from people in his past, and separately suggested that Bieber’s attitude toward Usher has not always been warm. That framing, offered by someone in Bieber’s circle rather than by Bieber himself, puts the dynamic in a particular light without offering much specificity about what built to Sunday’s exchange.

The last time the two were publicly seen together was in 2022 at Coeur d’Alene Lake in Idaho.

The room where it happened

The party itself was among the most star-studded events of Oscars weekend. Beyoncé and Jay-Z drew a guest list that reflected the intersection of music, film, fashion, and sport at the highest level. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were there, as were Michael B. Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, Austin Butler, Jacob Elordi, Emma Stone, Emma Watson, Kendall Jenner, Megan Fox, Kris Jenner, Sofia Vergara, Vin Diesel, Jon Batiste, Jack O’Connell, Chloe Bailey, and Vanessa and Natalia Bryant. Hailey Bieber, Justin’s wife, was also in attendance.

That crowd means any number of people could have observed what transpired between Usher and Bieber directly. So far, no one from that group has spoken publicly about what they saw.

No charges, no confirmation from Usher’s side

Law enforcement does not appear to have been involved. There is no indication that police were called or that the incident moved beyond the walls of the party.

The absence of any statement from Usher’s team makes a complete picture of the confrontation difficult to assemble. What is known is that two men with a long, layered professional and personal history found themselves in the same room on one of the most social nights of the year, and something between them surfaced.

Whether that something reflects a deeper ongoing tension or a single charged moment may not become clear unless one of them decides to address it directly. For now, neither has.
