Surprise! Pop tart Ariana Grande took to social media yesterday to announce that she will replace Nick Jonas as a coach on the exit season of The Voice.
Here is what she said:

Ariana will join the long list of pop stars who have sat in the revolving chair, including Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Shakira, Usher, and Gwen Stefani.
In other news, Ari has made a bit of Drag Race herstory. According to Pop Crave, Ariana Grande now has the most Drag Race lip syncs in show history. As in, the one-time judge’s songs have been played the most on the show for battles.
This started in season seven with episode six, where Grande sat in as a judge. There Kandy Ho and Jaidynn Diore Fierce faced off to “Break Free.” In season nine there was the infamous Valentina versus Nina Bonina Brown to “Greedy,” and this was followed by match ups in season 10, 12, 13, All Stars four, and All Stars five to “Bang Bang,” “Problem,” “No Tears Left to Cry,” “Into You,” and “One Last Time,” respectively.

I must say with Ari joining the upcoming season this is the biggest star they’ve gotten to be part of the show. So I can definitely see a new breed of fans checking out this long-in-the-tooth franchise. I’m also curious as to how much coin they had to shell out to get her.
Being that we’re still trying to get Covid under control with the rollout of a vaccine, pop stars jumping into the reality TV competition pool is the safest way to make money since touring is still on the backburner.
I’ll definitely be checking out the upcoming season to see how she does.
