It’s been almost five years since Gwen Stefani has served the kids some fierce solo pop music (her last album This Is What The Truth Feels Like came out in 2016), but now the Harajuku Girl is back with a brand new single entitled Let Me Reintroduce Myself.
Here’s what the No Doubt frontwoman had to say about the track, which she co-wrote with Ross Golan and Luke Niccolli:
“This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, lighthearted song, because I got inspired and hopefully to bring a little bit of joy. The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.”
While it was cute for a moment that she channeled her inner Mariah with the Christmas songs, and dabbled in Country music due to fiancé and fellow The Voice judge Blake Shelton, it’s nice to see Gwen go back to her pop/reggae roots.
Since the single is already #1 on iTunes, I hope there’s a new solo album in the works for a 2021 release.
