Netflix has debuted the first trailer for Season 2, which will release on the streamer in 2026.
The live-action series is a faithful adaptation of the popular animated Nickelodeon show from the 2000s. It stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, a 12-year-old boy who can control the four elements of air, water, earth and fire as the all-powerful Avatar. In the first season, he meets water bender Katara (Kiawentiio) and her brother Sokka (Ian Ousley), who save him from an iceberg after he disappeared for 100 years. Together, they journey around the world to help Aang learn how to master all four elements and fulfill his destiny as the Avatar. They also face off against the Fire Nation, led by Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) and his Uncle Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee) who are sent by Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) to capture Aang.
Like the original Nickelodeon show, Aang learns earth bending in the second season under the tutelage of Toph Beifong, a young, blind, earth-bending prodigy. She’s played by Miya Cech in Season 2.
The Season 2 trailer shows Aang, Katara and Sokka watching Toph compete in an earth-bending competition, just like the Nickelodeon show. It also reveals that Zuko’s sister Azula (Elizabeth Yu) has begun bending lightning, a particularly dangerous form of bending.
After the show debuted in 2024, Netflix renewed “Avatar: The Last Airbender” for two more seasons, with the story concluding with Season 3.
