BREAKING! POSE TO END AFTER THREE SEASONS

I am sad to report that after three seasons, the groundbreaking QPOC series Pose is coming to an abbreviated end.

In a video tweet, actor Angel Bismark Curiel, who plays Esteban “Lil Papi” Martinez-Evangelista, held back tears as he told fans the news was “bittersweet,” that he is “excited for new beginnings” but that his “heart is aching.”

Executive producer and co-creator Steven Canals also posted a video goodbye, expressing gratitude to viewers and noting that while the decision to end the show was very difficult, “We have told the story we wanted to tell the way we wanted to tell it.”

“Pose game me a massive opportunity & changed my life,” tweeted actor Johnny Sibilly, who played Billy Porter’s partner Costas. “It changed many lives & conversations.”

The final season, which will consist of seven episodes will air on May 2 on FX.

I was absolutely shocked when I heard this news, and I wonder if they pulled the plug due to Covid restrictions or was there no more story left to tell?

Since a lot of the show relies on it’s ballroom scenes, getting a lot of people in a room to shoot those scenes for 12-16 hours could be quite dangerous as we continue to slowly roll out vaccines.

While I am definitely sad that the show is coming to and end, I hope since Steven Canals and Janet Mock, who have overall deals with other networks and streaming services will have the cast popping up on their future projects.

Check out some of the tweets below…
