CYNDI LAUPER TO HEADLINE DIGITAL BENEFIT CONCERT FOR LGBTQ NIGHTLIFE WORKERS

Since our current administration could give two shits about helping hard working American people, pop music icon is stepping up to the plate. The Time After Time singer is set to headline Stonewall Gives Back, a fundraiser that will help support those in the industry impacted by the Miss Rona’s wrath.

The event will be hosted by Michelle Visage and Tyler Oakley, and the event, which will be streamed live will feature performances by Troye Sivan, Todrick Hall, Rufus Wainwright, Kim Petras, Allie X, Alan Cumming, Betty Who, Carlie Hanson, Darren Hayes, Dave Mizzoni, Greyson Chance, Issac Dunbar, John Cameron Mitchell, Kristin Chenoweth, Leland, Lorna Luft, Matt Rogers, MUNA, Nina West, Our Lady J, Pabllo Vittar, Peppermint, Shoshana Bean, Todrick Hall, Rucker, and Vincint.

“This industry is now gone, and employees of those bars, venues, and event spaces are struggling,” said Stacy Lentz, CEO of the Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative. “They rely on tips and gig work and are no longer able to make ends meet. We need this moment to come together as one and help those who keep the LBGTQ nightlife industry thriving.”

This is awesome, especially since the nightlife community is the backbone of New York City, and I have so many friends who work in nightlife who are currently out of work due to Miss Rona. If you’re interested in checking it out, the event will be livestreamed on April 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern on World of Wonder’s YouTube channel WOWPresents. The proceeds from the event will be directed into a fund from which LGBTQ+ nightlife workers can apply for emergency assistance.
