Wen you listen to Dua Lipa‘s electrifying new dance album Future Nostalgia, it’s clear the diva in training was inspired by Madonna’s brilliant Confessions on a Dance Floor.
Dua Lipa‘s manager has confirmed that Future Nostalgia was heavily influenced by Confessions, both of which featured songs produced by Stuart Price. So it shouldn’t come as a shock that Dua would want to record a song with the queen of pop.
When asked by the magazine if Dua Lipa could be the next Madonna, Mawson responded: “Well it depends what you mean. She’s definitely going to have a long career. She’s definitely the complete pop star and obviously the album was heavily influenced by Madonna.”
“Dua told me she aspired to be Madonna when I met her, when she was 17,” Mawson continued. “And there was something about the way she said it that made me believe her! It was about her personality, her charisma, her competitiveness and her drive and that came across. Dua’s got it all, so she’s unlimited potential.”
Dua Lipa recently admitted she would like to ‘do a Madonna’ and reach her creative peak in her 40s. This was the age, of course, that Madonna released Confessions on a Dancefloor.
“I want to do this for as long as I can,” Dua Lipa told The Sun. “I feel Madonna peaked [in her 40s] and made the best pop album known.”
First Kylie, now Madonna? Dua definitely has impeccable taste when it comes to her icon collaborations, and honestly I need all of these collaborations to happen.
