Kim Kardashian’s latest TV venture, All’s Fair, might have been met with some harsh reviews, but one of her most respected co-stars is now weighing in — with a mix of honesty, restraint, and unmistakable shade.'

In a new conversation with Variety, Glenn Close didn’t sugarcoat Kardashian’s self-awareness on set. According to Close, Kardashian “had no pretensions that she was a great actress.”

The remark was delivered matter-of-factly, confirming what many critics have said, while also making it clear the reality star isn’t out here pretending otherwise. The Hulu drama, which reunites Kardashian with American Horror Story: Delicate co-creator Ryan Murphy, became one of the streamer’s most-watched scripted debuts—despite a zero percent Rotten Tomatoes score.'

Still, Close noted there was more to Kardashian’s performance than the headlines. She highlighted the 45-year-old’s work ethic, saying she was struck by Kardashian’s “seriousness of intent.” She continued: “She always knew her lines. She never was late. She always was prepared.”

Close also added that Kardashian intentionally surrounded herself with strong performers, explaining, “She was smart enough to have people around her who she could learn from.”

That group includes Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor, and Niecy Nash-Betts — all of whom described Kardashian as kind, collaborative, and committed throughout filming.

The respect among the cast went both ways. Earlier this year, Close said that she declined to offer Kardashian acting advice, not out of disinterest, but out of respect. “I would not presume to give Kim Kardashian advice,” she said at the time. “I think she’s a very, very brilliant woman. I think she could choose to do anything she wants.”

Close praised Kardashian’s achievements beyond entertainment—from business to motherhood to law school—calling her “a great executive” with “huge potential” no matter which direction she chooses next.

Kardashian hasn’t publicly responded to Close’s latest comments as of this writing.
