HALLOWEEN KILLS, THE FOREVER PURGE & CANDYMAN THEATRICAL RELEASES HAVE BEEN DELAYED

With the uncertainty of theaters reopening during the Rona pandemic, the future releases of many films, including on the horror front have been up in the air.

There’s been speculation for a while on when will we get a trailer for Halloween Kills, and after months of impatiently waiting, we finally have an answer.

Halloween 2018 writer/director director David Gordon Green and Halloween 1978 filmmaker John Carpenter took to social media to announce that Halloween Kills, which was supposed to come out October of this year has been delayed until October 15, 2021.

An official statement penned by John Carpenter and director David Gordon Green reads, “If we release it in October of this year as planned, we have to face the reality that the film would be consumed in a compromised theatrical experience. After weighing our options, we have chosen to push the film’s theatrical release by one year.”

The original plan was to have Halloween Kills come out this year, and Halloween Ends film this year to be in theaters October 2021, but since we don’t have a cure for this virus the latter’s release will be out on October 14, 2022.

Candyman, which stars Watchmen and The Matrix 4 actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is still set for 2020 and will now move into Halloween Kills‘ original slot of Oct. 16, 2020. The film was previously set for Sep. 25.

The Forever Purge, directed by Everardo Gout, has also been rescheduled for July 9, 2021 after being taken off its July 10 date a few months ago.

I’m beyond disappointed since I was really looking forward to checking out Halloween this year. I really wish Hollywood could come to some kind of agreement where they could release films on an app that fans would pay a steep price for, because all this delaying is annoying the hell out of me. Then again, if delaying the film helps DDG give us the full Halloween experience, I’ll just suck it up and wait another year.
