Jimmy Kimmel Says Matthew McConaughey ‘Rubbed His Penis Against Him’ to Console Him

Matthew McConaughey apparently gave Jimmy Kimmel a particularly loaded hug while consoling the talk show host in the bathroom at the 2026 Emmys.

Jimmy Kimmel has revealed Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey consoled him after his friend’s death in a rather unexpected way.

Speaking on Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, the talk show host recalled a moment when he was in the bathroom at the Emmys when McConaughey exposed himself to him.

The late-night host shared the anecdote during Woody Harrelson’s appearance on his talk show, as Harrelson was apparently in the bathroom too. Harrelson stars in Apple TV series Brothers with McConaughey.

Kimmel said the moment happened after he got emotional during the In Memoriam segment at the recent Emmys, following his death of his childhood friend Cleto Escobedo III, who was also a long-time star of his show.

“My friend Cleto passed away and it was in the montage, and I started getting choked up and I went to the bathroom,” Kimmel recalled.

Kimmel continued: “I’m washing my hands and I notice next to me – I mean, right next to me – Matthew McConaughey is at the urinal.”

He said McConaughey noticed he was upset, asked if he was OK, and then turned to comfort him with a hug while still at the urinal.

According to Kimmel, he asked McConaughey: “Is your penis out?’ And he said, ‘Yes it is. Yes it is .’” Kimmel added that McConaughey then said: “In fact, I’m going to rub it up against you a little bit.’”

Woody Harrelson walks in

Harrelson joked that he emerged from a stall at the exact moment the hug was happening.

“I never try to grade or critique what other people are doing, and I figured you guys, whatever your thing is, I didn’t want to be the guy to say, ‘No, not in the restroom at the Emmys!’” he said.

Harrelson added that after he heard Kimmel say he was upset, the three later had a group hug out in the hall.

Kimmel said the bizarre encounter helped in the moment. “That did lighten the moment considerably and Cleto would have loved that very much,” he said.
