Pop icon Madonna may have finally found her cinematic doppelganger. Variety is reporting that Ozark and Inventing Anna star Julia Fox is currently the frontrunner to play the Material Girl in her upcoming biopic.
If you’ve been following the singer/songwriter on Instagram, then you’re aware that Madonna has been working on the script for quite sometime.
During earlier drafts she collaborated with Oscar winner Diablo Cody, who later exited the project, and then recruited Erin Cressida Wilson (The Girl On The Train) to flesh out the script.
The film, which Madonna will also direct will follow the early days of the oft-controversial artist and queen of perpetual reinvention. Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman Donna Langley won the script in a multi-studio bidding war, and Amy Pascal is attached as a producer.
Florence Pugh, Odessa Young, Euphoria star Alexa Demie, and singers BeBe Rexha and Sky Ferreira have all auditioned for the part, with Julia becoming an instant favorite.
I love Julia as an actress, and I can definitely see her channeling the essence of Madonna on the big screen.
