Calling in to The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, June 16, the Knicks big man confirmed Woods “didn’t like” Dolan’s suggestion.
“I’m a happily engaged man, I will definitely say, when I came home, and I told my fiancée what he said, she didn’t like to hear that one,” Towns, 30, told Stern with a laugh.
The NBA owner initially floated the idea during a lengthy speech to the team in April, with five games left in the regular season and the Knicks on the cusp of the playoffs.
NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson and his teammate Josh Hart shared a clip on their Roommates Show podcast on Monday, June 15, two days after their championship win.
"I had this idea that maybe you should give up sex for the next 10 weeks," Dolan, 71, said in the speech. "The Spartans, they denied themselves, right, so they can have an edge. Get the edge. Go home, talk to your wives ... don't tell them it was my idea."
He added, "But let them know what this is going to be like, what this commitment is going to be like."

While it’s unknown if any Knicks players took the owner’s advice, the team dialed in, winning 13 consecutive games in the playoff run before dropping Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden to the San Antonio Spurs — and then rattling off two more wins to clinch the championship.
For Towns — who gave an emotional interview about his late mother following the final game — the experience of helping to bring New York an NBA championship after more than five decades was transformative.
“You never realize as an athlete when you’re doing something special, you never realize the true impact it has,” Towns told Stern. “You just understand you’re competing at the highest level and you want to do something special…there was just so much healing, I was stunned.”
He added, “I didn’t realize how impactful it really is, and I still honestly don’t understand the true magnitude of what we’ve done.”
