MADONNA SIGNS MULTI-YEAR DEAL TO RETURN TO WARNER BROS.

Madonna is going back to her roots. A decade after releasing music through Interscope, the queen of pop is returning to Warner Bros., the label that played a significant role in 25 years of her music career.

According to reports, the singer, who turns 62 on August 16 has signed a eight-figure, multi year deal. The last album Madonna released on Warner Bros. was Hard Candy.

Since partnering with Interscope, Madonna has released three albums – MDNA, Rebel Heart, and the critically-acclaimed Madame X.

A music insider said: “Madonna is still a force to be reckoned with.

“The fact is, she sells records, people around the world adore her and every label would love to have her on their books.

“Now that her deal with Interscope has come to an end, she is a free agent and can choose where to go next — and Warner feels like the best place given their history.

“But Madonna comes at a hefty price. She can command big money and wants to make sure whatever deal she signs is the best thing for her and her music.”

The star is due to return to the charts on Friday as a featured artist on Dua Lipa’s new single Levitating along with Missy Elliott, both of whom are signed to Warner.

I actually think this is a great move on Madonna’s part to return to the WB, since so many of my favorite albums of hers come from Warner. Like A Prayer, Confessions on a Dance Floor, Ray of Light, Erotica – to name a few.

I’m looking forward to hearing the Dua/Missy collabo, and I hope this means Madonna will get to work with some of the best talent, since MDNA sounded like dated EDM, Rebel Heart was a good attempt at a comeback, but was hurt by early leaks, and Madame X was artistically good, but barely had any bops. And don’t get me started on that tour.

So while I think this is a good business move, I’m waiting to hear more information in regards to the direction of her next record before I get overly excited.
